Furthermore, the version provides an opportunity for citizens to participate in planning and budgeting hence, increasing transparency and accountability in the management of public funds. It is important for citizens to understand and comprehend fully the Government budget as it affects their lives in different manners. The 2019/20 financial year Citizens’ Budget begins with an introduction that includes the overall budget concept, budget targets and budget process for the financial year 2019/20. Other parts include: Budget priorities for the financial year 2019/20; Measures and guiding policies to enable the budget for the 2019/20; Reforms in tax system, fees and charges; How the government expects to get revenue; and how the Government aims to spend public monies.Item The Citizens’ Budget for the year 2018-2019(Ministry of Finance and Planning, 2018) The United Republic of TanzaniaCitizens’ Budget is a version prepared each financial year to provide basic information for the Government budget to citizens in a simplified language. The structure of Citizens Budget for financial year 2018/19 starts with an introduction that includes the general budget concept, budget process and budget goals. These estimates aim at implementing policy decisions made by Government to achieve a set of macroeconomic objectives. Budget is more than just numbers. It is the main economic policy tool of the Government and indicates how it plans to use public resources to meet policy goals. The Government Budget, in fact, divides money between Ministries, Independent Government Departments, Agencies, Regions and Local Government Authorities.Item The Citizens’ Budget for the year 2011-2012(Ministry of Finance and Planning, 2011) The United Republic of TanzaniaA citizens’ budget is a simplified digest of the national budget produced in a format that makes it easy for the ordinary citizen to understand the main features of what the government has planned for the financial year. This citizens’ budget aims at making budgetary information in the country more understandable, accessible, interesting and relevant to ordinary citizens. It also gives them the opportunity to be more involved and informed about the government’s planning, and budget execution process. It mentions in brief where the government is going to get its money and how it has arranged to spend it.
